Mirna Vilasís i Camarasa

1mirna2mirna3mirnaMirna was born on May 5, 2009 in Sabadell. Her mother, a seamstress and embroider, is a classical music lover. Her godmother, Mirna Lacambra, is a professional opera vocalist and famous around the world. Music has always been a part of the family and Mirna grew up surrounded by music and theaters since she was a child.

In 1976, when Mirna is six years old, she starts taking music lessons at different places such as: the Municipal School, the Orfeon and the “Esbart” of Sabadell along with studies in classical music for more than 15 years. She got post-secondary diplomas after training her voice and took piano lessons. Her teachers in vocal coaching were: Mirna Lacambra, Montserrat Pueyo and Maria de la Vega. She took piano and harmony lessons with several teachers, among them there is the pianist and composer Adelaida Vallribera.

In 1982, at age 12, Mirna starts at the choir “Amics de l’Opera” of Sabadell and makes her debut in the opera “Madame Butterfly” by Puccini. During her stay of nine years at the AAOS, Mirna can improve her artistic career as she works with international renowned singers and orchestra directors. She leaves the organization in 1991 after she has performed, as a choir singer, in more than eighty productions by Verdi, Puccini, Falla, Mozart, Rossini, Donizzetti, Bizet.

In 1985, at age 15, Mirna debuts as a soloist in the organization “Juventuts Musicals” of Catalonia. She plays several concerts around Catalonia with chamber orchestras. When she turns 17 years old, she sings the solo role, Barbarina, from the opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart with the organization “Amics de l’Opera “of Sabadell. She also plays others solo roles in several opera concerts with the “Orquesta Simfónica del Vallès”

On February 1988, at seventeen, Mirna meets Xavi Múrcia and they start a personal and professional relationship which it has achieved many successes.

In 1990, at age 20, she initiates jazz studies with Errol Woiski. At the same time, she continues her modern musical education with Toni Xuclà.

In 1991, at 21, Mirna begins studies on traditional music at “Aula de Música Tradicional” with Marcel Caselles. She studies button accordion with Francesc Marimom. Mirna also studies musical pedagogy, traditional dance and theatre among others studies.

During ten years, Mirna, combines her studies and concerts with teaching. She teaches musical language and voice training.

debracetbioOn September 1988, Mirna and Xavi Múrcia establish “Samfaina de Colors” in order to promote and spread the music, the instruments and the traditional culture of the Catalan Country to all children. During all these years and without interruptions, “Samfaina de Colors” has created twenty musical productions with more than 3200 shows around the country.”Samfaina de Colors” has recorded three CD’s: “Convit a la festa” (PDI, 1994), “Ralet, ralet” (Discos a mà, 2000), “Nou pometes té el cançoner” (Discos a mà, 2002). On 2003, they won the prize “Rialles” from “Omnium Cultural” for the best spectacle of the year with the play “El grill Esteve i l’orquestra del bosc” (the cricket Steve and the forest orchestra). “Samfaina de Colors” keeps on working in new artistic productions. In the spring of 2009, they had their premiere with the new spectacle “De braçet” (Walking arm in arm), which it is a play with sung and dramatized poems.” Samfaina de Colors” is one of the most recommended company for all kinds of public.

8mirna1In 1994, Mirna and Xavi Múrcia starts “Tralla” an original proposal to singer song-writer based on folk music and influenced by jazz and new musical genres. “Tralla” produced more than five hundred concerts between tours and festivals around Catalonia and Europe. They visited places such as: Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium…”Tralla” has recorded four CD’s: “Cançons de ronda” (Actual Records, 1995), “Com l’olor de la terra molla” (Actual Records, 1997), “Fruita del temps” (Discos a mà, 2001) and “El fill de la Terra. El comte Arnau” (Discos a mà. 2003). All four CD’s had received unanimous praise from the public and the art critics that acknowledge them with important prizes.

9mirnaIn 1995, Mirna and Xavi Múrcia found “La Cobleta de la Selva” looking for the deep passion of the Catalan popular chant. “La Cobleta de la Selva” made a severe and energetic treatment of various musical genres including poems from the Catalan music. The purpose of that was to draw the best of its interests: the strength, the beauty and most of it, the power of communication that music has. “La Cobleta de la Selva put on more than 300 concerts in various musical environments: traditional music, antique music, new music and music from around the world. “La Cobleta de la Selva” recorded one CD: “Cançons d’aquell temps” (Songs from old times, Actual Records 1998).

Since 1991, Mirna has ocasionally collaborated as a singer with Rosa Zamora, Maria Lafitte, Orquestra Simfònica de la Canya, Bitayna, Jordi Batista, Les Violines, Pomada, Marcel Casellas among others. She has recorded almost 50 CD’s, between compilations and collaborations.

bracosIn 2009, Mirna records her first album alone, the most personal and mature project. The CD is called “Mirna” (Harmonia Mundi 2009) and it will be premiered on May 8th 2009 in Barcerlona. Mirna bases her music on her voice and she merges it with a variety of tones full of colours and nuances of the rich instrumentation from the Mediterranean signature, to be able to sing the catalan poet’s words. Mirna opens up her heart completely to offer us her best work: energy, emotion and affection.

Mirna lives with her husband Xavi Múrcia and their three children, Marcel, Marti and Maria in Argelaguer, a little village in La Garrotxa (Girona).
